Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra Now Taking Auditions

The Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra, a volunteer community orchestra that provides free orchestral concerts to the community, is now accepting new members for the 2010-2011 season.

Rosin up your bow and polish off your brass: all players of orchestral string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments are invited to audition. Auditions begin now and run into the fall.

The Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra presents three concerts to a year. In February, the 90-member orchestra invited the public to see it perform Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherezade," which is considered to be one of the most passionate and difficult works in the symphonic repertoire.

The orchestra consists of a mix of professionals and aspiring musicians of all ages, including college and high school students, as well as senior citizens.

For more about the auditions, you can call 873-7298 or visit the orchestra's website by clicking here. You can also learn more about the orchestra by visiting its facebook page.
