Kids Help Clean Caves
Ten members oftheTorch Club from the Boys and Girls Club Musgrave Unit took part in a cave restoration project today at Sequiota Park in Springfield. The youth worked on “Crawl All the Way Cave” and “Walk All the Way Cave.” Sequiota Cave itself is not accessible to the public because it houses a population of federally-protected gray bats. This clean-up project was done in conjunction with the Outdoor Initiative of the Springfield-Greene County Parks Board. The Boys and Girls Club Torch Club participates in clean-up projects at the caves several times a year, removing trash and cleaning cave walls. The club also cleans up a local street and stream throughout the year.
