About 75 Study Middle School students rolled up their sleeves and helped clean up a city park and walking trails today (April 23), as part of Earth Day activities. KSMU’s Alvin Chen reports.

Sherry Campbell is with Caring Communities and works as a Community Development Specialist for Study Middle School. She says today(April 23)’s activity is a chance for Study Middle School to give back to the community.

Campbell says by doing this, the ultimate goal is to let students learn that their community is something beautiful. And to preserve the community, they have to take responsibility.

Students say they’re interested in taking care of the environment.

For KSMU News, I’m Alvin Chen.
