Senator Bond Criticizes Obama's Budget in Springfield

Senator Kit Bond was in Springfield Friday to hold a roundtable discussion on what he sees as flaws in President Obama’s proposed budget. KSMU's Brett Moser reports.

Speaking to a large group at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Senator Bond said that he believes Obama’s budget will hurt rather than help the Midwest economy.

Senator Bond added that he believes Obama’s proposed budget will unnecessarily tax small businesses and might lead to even further job loss.

But the senator spoke on more than just the impact the budget might have on area businesses. He said the president’s budget could affect the taxes on energy, homes, and charities.

Local organizations such as City Utilities, KD Products, and the Homebuilders and Contractors Associations were a few of the groups there to hear the Senator’s comments.
