The fire danger is high in parts of Southwest Missouri today. KSMU's Michele Skalicky reports. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Jasper, Newton and McDonald counties. Andy Foster is a meteorologist with the Weather Service in Springfield..."A red flag warning means they are at increased danger for wildfire behavior, so if you have lower moisture values, higher winds, higher temperatures, you can have conditions conducive to facilitating fire behavior that can be dangerous. And that's what we have, especially in far Southwest Missouri today."Foster recommends avoiding any outdoor burning today. He says fires could quickly get out of hand. While we'll see warmer temperatures today, tomorrow's high will only be in the mid 40s..."We'll warm up today and then tomorrow we'll cool right back down as a cold front moves through and sharply falling temperatures by tomorrow afternoon and we could see some light rain changing over to some very light snow tomorrow afternoon."The red flag warning for Jasper, McDonald and Newton counties is in effect from noon to 6 today.
