A local non-profit group is challenging everyone in the Ozarks to leave their cars behind and find alternative ways to get to work and school. Participating in "Bike, Bus, Walk Week" will not only save you money on gas, it gets you a free breakfast. KSMU's Greg Leuthen has more.
Ozark Greenways aspires to preserve the Ozarks' natural resources and utilize area parks and trails. Now the organization is encouraging you to do the same. The annual "Bike, Bus, Walk Week" encourages everyone to find alternative transportation to work and school.
Lori Tack is the program coordinator for Ozark Greenways. She explains one of the incentives offered to those who participate in the challenge.
In addition to a free breakfast, those who bike can ride a city bus for free all week. Tack says one of Ozark Greenways' goals is to promote the new developing city bike routes.
Tack says participants can also win baseball caps and Ozark Greenways memberships. A trophy will go to the business or school with the most participants. *Ozark Greenways is hosting "Rally in Patton Alley" during the First Friday Art Walk on May 2nd. Free live music and ice cream will be available on first come, first served basis to those on their bikes. Volunteers will watch your bikes for free as you enjoy the art walk and music.
