Missouri State University is making a change to its men's basketball program. University officials announced Sunday afternoon that coach Barry Hinson will not be returning next year. KSMU's Jana Greer has more on this decision.
Missouri State's Athletic Director Bill Rowe made the announcement that after nine years of coaching at Missouri State, Barry Hinson will not be returning next year. Missouri State President Michael Nietzel says that he regrets having to make this decision.
Nietzel says that if Coach Hinson would have taken the team to the NCAA tournament, things would have been different.
Athletic Director Bill Rowe says the search for a new coach will begin soon.
Hinson will receive 150 thousand dollars for a cancellation payment on his contract. Hinson was not at Sunday's press conference.
