Local Workday and Hike Planned for Those With "Cabin Fever"

http://ozarkspub.vo.llnwd.net/o37/KSMU/audio/mp3/localworkd_1123.mp3

For those of you going crazy from "Cabin fever" and itching to get out of the house, Ozark Greenways is offering a morning of exercise, nature, and even some food on the side.

KSMU's Jennifer Moore reports.

Ozark Greenways and the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks invite the public to spend this Saturday morning beautifying the Valley Water Mill trail.

Lori Tack of Ozark Greenways is helping to organize Saturday's event

Volunteers will help clear fallen branches and rake leaves away from the trail. Following the morning's work, participants will enjoy a hike along the trail and be treated to a hot bowl of chili.

Tack says volunteers should dress for the cold weather and bring with them any tools they might have to help clean up the nature path.

The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Valley Water Mill and will last until noon.

There is no charge to participate in the workday and hike, but donations will be accepted for the chili lunch.

Ozark Greenways would like volunteers to register in advance if possible. Again, the number to call is 864-2015.

For KSMU News, I'm Jennifer Moore.

DIRECTIONS to parking area at Valley Water Mill:

From Glenstone and I-44, go north one mile to Valley Water Mill Road. Go east on Valley Water Mill Road to Barnes. Go north on Barnes for about 1/3 mile to the "Y" in the road and veer right (east) for a short distance to the parking area on the north side of the lake. You will see the Ozark Greenways banner.
