Missouri State University's Emergency Response Task Force Makes Recommendations to Improve Campus S

Missouri State University's Emergency Response Task Force released the second and final part of its report this week. The task force looked at Missouri State's broader Emergency Response Plan and made some minor recommendations. KSMU's Jana Greer has more on what the task force found.

The Emergency Response Task Force at Missouri State University recently evaluated its existing emergency response plans, looking at situations like bomb threats, fires and severe weather. Members of the task force recommended that an Emergency Operations Center be prepared at the JQH Arena. It would be the command center for any campus emergency. The group also recommended mandatory training sessions to make those on campus more aware of existing and new policies and procedures. Ken McClure chaired the Emergency Response Task Force. He says training should start soon.

Other recommendations were minor adjustments and updates to existing policies such as dividing the campus into zones, emphasizing drills and posting evacuation routes in classrooms. McClure says that even though it may be the last thing on people's minds, it's important to know what to do in case of an emergency.
