Volunteers interested in keeping area waterways clean will have a chance to help out this Saturday.
The Finley River Stream Clean-up Event is this Saturday from 10 to 2...This event had originally been scheduled for June 2nd but had to be cancelled because of flooding. Justin Jenkins is project coordinator with the Christian County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Jenkins says the clean-up is especially well-timed, coming the weekend after the July 4th holiday.
He says depending on the time of year, this part of the Finley River needs extra attention in the way of clean-up.
People are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear for this event. Organizers will provide gloves and trash bags for the anticipated one hundred volunteers. Lunch will also be available form 11 to 1. Information on the event is available by calling Justin Jenkins at 581-2719.
