Local SIFE Teams Headed to International Competition

Forty-five Drury University students will travel to Germany Wednesday to compete in the Students In Free Enterprise or SIFE world cup championship.KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.

STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE OR SIFE IS A NON-PROFIT GROUP THAT WORKS WITH BUSINESS AND HIGHER EDUCATION TO GIVE COLLEGE STUDENTS A CHANCE TO LEARN, PRACTICE AND TEACH THE PRINCIPLES OF FREE ENTERPRISE.

DRURY'S SIFE TEAM EARNED THE RIGHT TO COMPETE IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION BY WINNING THE U-S COMPETITION IN MAY.

SHANNON THOMS (tahms) IS THE TEAM DIRECTOR.

THERE WILL BE AS MANY AS 31 COUNTRIES REPRESENTED AT THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN MAINZ (rhymes with pints), GERMANY.

MICHELLE WEST IS THE SPOKESWOMAN FOR THE SIFE ORGANIZATION.

SHE SAYS THE SIFE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION WILL INCLUDE TEAMS FROM SOME UNLIKELY COUNTRIES.

NO MATTER WHERE THE TEAM COMES FROM, EACH ONE IS HELD TO THE SAME STANDARDS AT COMPETITION.

THOMS EXPLAINS WHAT EACH TEAM MUST DO AT THE COMPETITION.

THE PRESENTATION BY THE DRURY SIFE TEAM WILL FOCUS ON SEVERAL PROJECTS.

THOMS SAYS THE TEAM WILL TALK ABOUT ONE OF ITS NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR.

THE DRURY SIFE TEAM CONSISTS OF STUDENTS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF DISCIPLINES'BUSINESS, EDUCATION, PUBLIC RELATIONS.

EMILY COLANTUONO (cah-lihn-TOH-noh) HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE DRURY SIFE TEAM FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS.

SHE SAYS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF COMPETITION IS GETTING TO SEE OTHER TEAMS MAKE THEIR PRESENTATIONS.

THE SIFE WORLD COMPETITION TAKES PLACE MONDAY AND TUESDAY OCTOBER 13TH AND 14TH IN MAINZ, GERMANY.
