David Bowie

Early in his life, David Bowie spent time in a monastery, tried playing the saxophone and founded a mime company. He decided to focus on music in the 1970s, depriving the world of a miming talent that may have rivaled that of Marcel Marceau. With his new album "Heathen," Bowie enters his fourth decade as a rock star. Host Renee Montagne speaks with him about his new album, being a father again and the birthday of one of his earliest creations: Ziggy Stardust. Hear an extended version of the interview or watch an All Songs Considered presentation on Bowie's new song, "Slow Burn."
