Family Fridays in the Garden will focus on nocturnal insects Friday night (6/22) at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Meet on the rooftop plaza at 7:30 for the free program.

The Movies at Founders Park Series continues this weekend.  “Peter Rabbit” will be shown Friday night (6/22) and “Sweet Home Alabama” Saturday night (6/23) at dusk at the park, 330 E. Water St. in downtown Springfield.  Admission is free. Take lawn chairs and blankets. 

The Springfield-Greene County Library invites families to “Fantastic Fridays at the Steam Engine Grounds” Friday morning (6/22) at 10 at the site on Highway 60 west of Springfield.  Award-winning storyteller and musician, Mike Anderson, will be there, and kids can take part in several activities. 

The Growing US Community Cleanup is being held Friday through Monday (6/22-6/25) in any city, park or public space.  Pick up trash, and take a picture of yourself in action.  Tag @growingus1 on Facebook and #gucleanup on Twitter and be entered to win prizes. 

Yoga on the Square is at 12:10 Friday afternoon (6/22) on Park Central Square.  Take a yoga mat and water.  Admission is free. 

Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 431 S. Jefferson in Springfield, will present“A Grand Night for Singing” Friday night and Saturday night (6/22 & 6/23) at 7:30 and Sunday (6/24) at 2. 

Fiddlers on the Route 2018 will be held Friday and Saturday (6/22-6/23) at Joplin’s Memorial Hall.  The two-day festival features musical performances, including Dailey & Vincent and local and regional bluegrass musicians. 

Springfield Little Theatre presents “All Shook Up” through Sunday (6/24) at the Landers Theatre. 

The White Hart Renaissance Faire continues through Sunday (6/24) at Prankster Ranch, 5651 State Highway F in Hartville. 

The Staff Picks Series at the Moxie will feature the 1994 film, “Crooklyn,” Friday night (6/22) at 9 and Saturday afternoon (6/23) at 1:30 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield. 

Musician and storyteller, Mike Anderson, will present “Songs, Stories and a Boingy Boingy Thing and a Clackity Clack Thing and a Nose Flute” Friday afternoon (6/22) at 2:30 at the Christian County Library’s Nixa branch, 208 McCroskey St. 

The Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, 483 Hatchery Rd. in Branson, will present the program, “Missouri Mammals,” Saturday morning (6/23) from 8 to noon.  Stop by a display to learn more about Missouri’s furry critters. 

The program, “Chalk up the Zoo,” will be held Saturday (6/23) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dickerson Park Zoo.  Draw on the sidewalks and walkways with chalk. 

See the film, “Against the Odds:  Artists of the Harlem Renaissance,” Saturday and Sunday (6/23-6/24) at 1 at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, MO. 

The fourth annual Run for their Lives 5K and 1 Mile Walk will be held Saturday morning (6/23) at 8 at Atchley Park in Lebanon.  Proceeds benefit suicide awareness through Pathways Community Health. 

Taste of SoMo will be held Saturday (6/23) at 1 on Park Central Square in Springfield.  Food sampling will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for 10.  Admission is free to the event that also includes food trucks, beer and live music until 7 p.m. 

The Sounds of Summer Concert Series continues Saturday night (6/23) at 7:30.  Izabel Crane will perform at the Peace through People Pavilion at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic.  Take blankets or lawn chairs.  

The Butterfly Festival with Young Sprouts in the Garden is Saturday (6/23) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Celebrate gardening, nature and butterflies.  The Dr. Bill Roston Native Butterfly House will be open.  The event will include a caterpillar petting zoo, a pollinator costume contest, a performance by the Fishin’ Magicians and more. Admission is free. 

Summer SnowFest will be held Saturday (6/23) from noon to 4 p.m. at Jordan Valley Park in Springfield.  The event features a mountain of “snow” from Mediacom Ice Park, interactive games, snowman building contests, a bounce house, free arts projects and more. 

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield will present a Living History ProgramSaturday (6/23) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The program, at Tour Road Stop Five, will depict the German-American troops that comprised a large part of General Nathaniel Lyon’s Union Army at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek. 

Eden Animal Haven, a safe haven for cats in need, will host an open house Saturday (6/23) from noon to 3 at 1649 E. 562nd Rd. in Brighton, MO. 

The Conservatory of the Ozarks will present a Patriotic ConcertSaturday (6/23) at 5 p.m. at the Park Central Branch Library. 

The Moxie Cinema’s In Translation Series continues with the showing of “Western” Saturday (6/23) at 4 and Sunday (6/24) at 12:30.  

Moxie Morningswill be held Saturday morning (6/23) at 10 at the Moxie, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield.  The hour-long events, for kids two to six-years-old, feature an innovative short film and hands-on art making. 

The Delaware Neighborhood Association will host aSummer Solstice Party Saturday (6/23) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1551 E. Portland in Springfield.  The event will include music, games, food and a car wash. 

Families with kids in preschool through fourth grade are invited to the program, “Recycled Rhythm,”Saturday morning (6/23) at 10 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  Musician and storyteller Mike Anderson will demonstrate various instruments, including one made from a horse’s jaw bone.  Kids will make shakers and make music with them. 

People of all ages can paint rocks Saturday afternoon (6/23) from 1 to 4 at the Library Center.  Learn more here

The Lebanon Farmer’s Market will be open Saturday (6/23) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Lebanon, off Jefferson by the railroad tracks.  

The C-Street City Market will be open Saturday (6/23) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the Footbridge on Commercial Street. 

The Greater Ozarks Farmers’ Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (6/23) in the southeast corner of the Battlefield Mall Parking Lot. 

Farmers’ Market of the Ozarks will be open Saturday (6/23) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2144 E. Republic Rd. in Springfield.

The Eureka Springs, Arkansas Farmer’s Market will be open Saturday (6/16) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eureka Springs Community Center, 44 Kingshighway. 

College of the Ozarks will host its 29th annual Honor America Celebration Sunday (6/24) starting at 5:30 p.m.  Take lawn chairs and blankets.  The event kicks off with an old-fashioned barbecue picnic (food will be available for purchase).  There will also be children’s activities, live music and a fireworks display.    Admission is free. 

The Live on the Lawn Concert Series at Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, 818 E. Norton Rd. in Springfield, continues Sunday night (6/24) at 6:30 with bluegrass by Emalee Flatness and Matthew Hutcheman.  Admission is free.  Take blankets and lawn chairs. 

The Library Station’s 15th Birthday Bash will be held Sunday (6/24) from 2 to 4 with cake, activities, a concert by Brett Johnston at 3 and more. 

Kenny Key and Juanita Lee will present a concertSunday afternoon (6/24) at 3 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  They’ll perform a variety of music from some of their favorite songwriters.

Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
