Visitors to Dickerson Park Zoo will be able to see a new animal species. A pair of swift foxes now calls the zoo home.
Peggy, a ten-year-old female, came from the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka, Missouri, and Turner, a three-year-old male, is from the Pueblo Zoo in Colorado.
Swift foxes weigh approximately four to six pounds and are not much larger than an average house cat, according to Dickerson Park Zoo. Swift foxes are nocturnal and spend much of their time underground in their burrows. And, as their name implies, they are fast.
Dickerson Park Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Its promotion, Wild Winter Fun, which gives half off admission, continues through January 31.
