It will start to feel a lot like Christmas today on Park Central Square.  The city of Springfield will install the annual Christmas tree there this morning.

The 30-foot spruce was donated by Missouri State University.  It used to stand at the intersection of John Q. Hammons Parkway and Elm near Sunvilla Tower.  Planned construction of a new Missouri State shuttle stop on the site forced removal of the tree.

The Downtown Springfield Association suggested its use as a Christmas tree.

MSU president Clif Smart will flip the switch on the decorated tree during a lighting ceremony at 7 pm Saturday (11/21).
