Ten area non-profit organizations will receive grants this week for 11 different projects from the Springfield Regional Arts Council.  The largest award--$2000—goes to SRO Lyric Theatre for board development training.  They'll also receive a $750 grant to continue their monthly open-mic night, Operazzi.

The grants are made possible by donor funds designated to support arts and culture at the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.  They’re intended to support the goals of the Springfield Cultural Plan and the issues identified in the Community Focus Report for Springfield-Greene County.

A total of $15,000 will be awarded at a presentation to kick off the opening reception of “Pop Art Remix 2” Friday night at the Creamery Arts Center.  It starts at 4:30, followed by the reception from 6 to 9.

Other organizations receiving grants are:

Boys Choir of Springfield ($1000 for audience development and diversification)

Springfield Public Schools ($1500 for SPS second graders to attend Springfield Ballet performances)

Drury ($1500 to support the 2015 Self-Employment in the Arts conference)

Springfield Art Museum ($1500 to update the Foyer Gallery)
