Get out your maroon and white and get ready to help Missouri State University celebrate the anniversary of its name change. KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more...

Missouri State will celebrate the anniversary of its name change Friday (8/28). Legacy Day commemorates the day—August 28, 2005—when Southwest Missouri State University became Missouri State University.
Art Hains is MSU’s marketing director…

"I think it's important to remember the entire history of the university--Normal School through Southwest Missouri State and all the various things, but we got the Missouri State name change four years ago, and it was a long hard battle to get it. We want to recognize the entire 104-year history."

Legacy Day this year will kick-off Bearwear Fridays—Missouri State faculty, staff, students, alumni and fans are encouraged to wear MSU apparel each Friday beginning this week…

"Bearwear Fridays is where Missouri State fans or alumni happen to be. We're hoping that alumni living in New England or California or wherever will wear their Missouri State bear gear on every Friday of Bearwear Friday."

A Legacy Day celebration starts Friday (8/28) at 5 at Missouri State north of the Plaster Student Union. There will be live music and other activities. To find out more, visit www.missouristate.edu.
