Listen in  MP3 format Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee spoke at a rally Friday night in Springfield in an effort to share his ideals and gain support going into Super-Tuesday. KSMU's Greg Leuthen has more.
Republican Presidential Candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee spoke to about 1,000 people at the Springfield-Branson National Airport Friday night. Huckabee cracked several jokes during his 35 minute speech, but he also focused on several of the issues most important to his campaign. Medical care for veterans, his opposition to abortion, and increased border security are among the major issues he discussed. He says that the implementation of increased border security would take place 18 months into his presidency.
Huckabee also says he will strengthen America's productivity and economy by shutting down the Internal Revenue Service.
Huckabee has the endorsement of one of Missouri's largest anti-abortion groups.
