Brick Sidewalks of Springfield will hold a public meeting Tuesday (9/7) at 6 at the Midtown Library. The organization maintains and preserves Springfield’s over 13 miles of 130 year old brick sidewalks and provides recycled pavers for repairs. • The Recycled Fish 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon to raise awareness and funds for Ozarks streams will be held September 10th beginning at 6 pm and ending September 11th at 5:59 pm on the North Fork River. Information at 253-906-0420.

• The Ozark Mountain Daredevils will perform two nights at the Gillioz Theatre, September 10th and 11th with both shows beginning at 8:15. Ticket information at 863-9491.

• The Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walks will be held thru October and the Lebanon walk will be held September 11th at Boswell Park with check-in beginning at 9 and the walk at 10. Registration information at 886-2199 or 1-800-272-3900.

• “Just Moved,” a class designed to provide insight and resources for women who are going through the transitions created by a move, will be held September 12th and 19th at the University Heights Baptist Church in Springfield. The class will focus on “letting go,” “starting over,” and “moving ahead.” Registration is required. Information at 862-0789.

• A Cooking and Nutrition Class for those with diabetes will be held September 20th at 6 at the Oak Grove Heights Church in Rogersville. Registration is due by September 13th. Information at 753-3298.

• Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams will host 4 informal “Coffee with the Chief” events to meet and talk to the public at locally owned coffee shops in each of the 4 City Council Zones. Zone 1’s meeting will take place Wednesday morning (9/1) at Big Momma’s on Commercial Street. Zone 2 will be held September 15th at Anton’s. Zone 3 will be at Gailey’s September 29 and Zone 4 will be held October 6 at the Dancing Mule Coffee Company. Information at 864-1782.

• The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary members will take orders for their 6th annual Fall Mum Sale now thru September 16th. The proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army’s “Theone Cole Music Camp Scholarship Fund” for youth and other children’s programs. Information at 862-5509.

• The Ozarks Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers will host “Picnic in the Park” September 18th from 6 to 9 at the Dickerson Park Zoo to benefit the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, an African conservation effort to protect large numbers of species including rhinos, zebras, cheetahs, lions, giraffes and elephants. • The American Red Cross will hold a babysitter training course September 25th from 8:30 to 4:30 at their offices on West Bypass. Registration is required. Information at 832-9500.

• The University of Missouri Extension will offer the “Stay Strong, Stay Healthy” program beginning September 28th for five weeks at the Forsyth Community Presbyterian Church. Registration is required and spaces are limited. Information at 417-546-4431 or 1-888-504-0443.

• The Discovery Center and the Salvation Army will collect school supplies for local children thru September 30th at the Discovery Center. All donations will go directly to southwest Missouri elementary and middle schools. Information at 862-9910 ext 173.

• The Powers Museum in Carthage will host the traveling Lee and Grant National Traveling Exhibit thru October 30th, providing a look at the lives and historical impact of Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. Information at 417-237-0456.
