After months of construction, the Kitchen Clinic will now to serve those in need in a renovated building. KSMU's Matt Petcoff reports.

After months of construction, the Kitchen Clinic will now to serve those in need in a renovated building.

The clinic, which provides out-patient medical care and medication, served over 3-thousand patients last year.

And, now, patients looking for some help at the clinic will be treated to brand new rooms, equipment and tools.

Tina Todd is the Supervisor over the clinic and pharmacy team at the Kitchen Clinic.

She says the renovated clinic, which offers many different forms of medical care, all free of charge, is a one stop shop.

Ten full time employee's run the clinic, but Todd says what makes it all work is the more than 30 local physicians who offer their time to the clinic.

But, even with that much volunteered help, replacing the old building with the new, state-of-the-art one took some extra assistance.

Rorrie Orgeron is the operations officer for the clinic.

He says funding for the renovation project comes from a three-year, one-point-three million dollar grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health.

Tina Todd says the clinic is open to anyone who meets income guidelines and doesn't have medical insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare.

Right now the clinic is on a first-come, first-served basis but Todd says she hopes to go to an appointment system in the near future.
