Bob Barker Visits Drury University Print E-mail

Long time game show host Bob Barker presented Drury University, his Alma matter, with a 1 million dollar donation to establish an undergraduate course in the study of Animal Rights. He met with hundreds of students, faculty, and local media to talk about the course, his love for animals, and The Price is Right. KSMU's Greg Leuthen reports.

A room filled with animals as small as Max, a 1 pound Rat-terrier, to ones as large as Chandler, a 125 pound Great Dane, greeted Bob Barker with their owners as the legendary game show host and animal rights activist entered the Trustee Science Center. Barker presented Drury University with a check for 1 million dollars to establish the Bob Barker Endowment Fund for the Study of Animal Rights. The first-of-its-kind Animal Ethics Course will be offered at Drury by the spring of 2010. Barker explains why animals mean so much to him.

In a one-on-one interview with KSMU, Barker says that the most important thing he wants students to get out of the Animal Ethics Course is that they should always be treated as living creatures, not things.

Barker also added that if you don't attend Drury and cannot take the new animal ethics course, there is still something else you can do to help.
