The Springfield City Council will have a few new faces helping to make decisions.

Cindy Rushefsky, Doug Burlison and Dan Chiles all won seats on the council.

Both Rushefsky and Burlison unseated incumbent council members.

Rushefsky, who will take Shiela Wright's seat, and Burlison, who replaces Conrad Griggs, both say the results show that voters want a change.

And, Burlison says he thinks voters were concerned that their voice wasn't being heard by council members.

Burlison's opponent Conrad Griggs did not return KSMU's phone calls seeking comments on the results.

Rushefsky echoes Burlison's opinion saying this election should give citizens a chance for their opinions to be heard.

But, Sheila Wright says she believes there is one specific incident that caused voters to go against the incumbents.

She says a lot of citizens placed blame on the city council for the prolonged power outages during the ice storm.

One issue both Rushefsky and Burlison say they hope to address quickly is the ability of the city to retain Police and Firemen.

Also winning a seat on the council is Dan Chiles,

Chiles says his ties with the community may have won over voters.

The three new council members will work with Springfield mayor Tom Carlson, who ran unopposed for another term.
