Event Description

Springfield Contemporary Theatre presents the Springfield-area premiere of "The Legend of Georgia McBride" by Matthew Lopez, directed by Rick Dines, November 30-Dec.16 at SCT Center Stage in Wilhoit Plaza. The cast features Christina Gardner, Mark Gideon, Lavelle Johnston, Roland Netzer and Jon Sidoli. Casey is young, he’s broke, his landlord’s knocking at the door, and he’s just found out his girlfriend is going to have a baby! To make matters even more desperate, Casey is fired from his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small-town Florida Panhandle bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace his act, Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business—and himself. The Full Monty meets The Birdcage in this music-filled comedy about singing your own song. Contains adult language and content. There will be one "Pay What You Can" Thursday for this production on December 6, which includes a talkback with the show's director and cast after the performance. Another talkback will be offered after the Sunday Dec.9 matinee. Tickets range from $22-$27 and are available at www.springfieldcontemporarytheatre.org or by calling 831-8001.
